Overview

The Nursing Knowledge Center’s Cardiac-Vascular Nursing Certification Interactive Review Program provides information relevant to current practice and review materials to prepare for the ANCC Cardiac-Vascular Nursing board certification exam.

Over the course of eight weeks, you will be immersed in independent study combined with multimedia knowledge checks, case studies, webinars, and live discussion boards with your peers and other professionals. Your personal learning journey will be led by a knowledge coach who will guide your cohort through this interactive review course. Access to an electronic copy of the Cardiac-Vascular Nursing Review & Resource Manual is also included.

To enhance your learning, the course consists of online independent study with 24/7 access plus two live knowledge coach facilitated sessions. One session is via a web-conferencing platform ZOOM and the second session is a face-to-face workshop. Course content is available one month before the course start date through three months after the course end date.

Dr. Kimberly Nelson 

Nelson has been a cardiac nurse for over 20 years with experience in the hospital, community and research practice areas. She received her Bachelor's and Master's in Nursing from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She is certified as a Cardiac-Vascular Nurse, Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist, Heart Failure Nurse, Cardiac Care Coordinator and Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer. She is currently practicing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.

Barbara Leeper, MN, RN-BC, CNS M-S, CCRN, FAHA

Leeper has worked with cardiovascular patients for more than 40 years as a staff nurse in critical care and as a critical care educator. For the last 20 years she has specialized, as a clinical nurse specialist, working with patients, families and bedside caregivers focusing on patients with cardiac and vascular diagnoses. Leeper teaches and speaks locally, regionally and nationally.
